The agent of Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena has revealed that Barcelona have been showing interest in his client.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a very successful season on personal level, having impressed playing for both club and country.
He has in turn been linked with a number of high-profile clubs, with his client revealing that Barcelona are among sides interested in his signature.
“I can confirm only that I discussed Mathieu with Andoni Zubizarreta some time ago,” agent Christophe Hutteau confessed to Radio Monte Carlo.
“He felt the same as their technical staff: that he’s is a very good player whom they all appreciate. He told me that a number of offensive players would leave Barca.
“But Mathieu is currently at Marseille and is feels happy there.”
Mathieu Valbuena has been widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in France’s top flight and it is only a matter of time before he leaves Stade Velodrome.
The experienced midfielder is adamant he is happy at Marseille, but it may be time for a change of scenery after spending last seven years at the club.
During that time Valbuena has made 208 league appearances for OM, scoring 24 goals and winning one Ligue 1 title in the process.
