Valdes nears Old Trafford switch
The Independent has revealed that former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is set to put pen to paper on a long-term deal with Manchester United.
The Spaniard has been training with the Red Devils for several weeks now as he aims to build his fitness after a serious injury and everything suggests he will be offered a contract at Old Trafford.
But, while he was supposed to act as a back-up to first choice keeper David De Gea, the club chiefs reportedly see him as a replacement for his compatriot, who continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos are believed to be hot on the trail of the 24-year-old goalkeeper as Iker Casillas appears to be well past his prime.
Meanwhile, Victor Valdes is a free agent after leaving Barcelona and he will jump at the chance to sign for Manchester United having seen moves to Monaco and Liverpool fall through.
The 32-year-old is slowly returning to fitness and the Red Devils are probably waiting for the player to completely overcome his injury before adding him to the ranks at Old Trafford.
North London rivals eyeing Lacazette
Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are both keeping close tabs on Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, Daily Express can reveal.
The Stade Gerland graduate has developed into one of country’s top forwards and his impressive displays did not go unnoticed.
And while Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are hot on his trail, Arsenal and Tottenham seem to have joined the race as well.
The North London rivals are in the market for a new centre forward and they could be involved in a genuine bidding war for the 23-year-old.
After getting himself on the map by netting 15 times in 36 league appearances last term, Lacazette has been even more impressive this season, scoring 11 goals in 13 outings.
He returned into international fold in the September friendly against Serbia and is now in line for his first France start as les Blues face Albania and Sweden.
