Maxi Gomez is a wanted man! The Celta Vigo striker has been mentioned as a potential target for numerous European clubs this summer, including even Barcelona. The Uruguayan was seen as a player that could become heir to his compatriot Luis Suarez for Blaugrana, but right now that is not realistic to actually happen.

Rather than that, AS are reporting that Gomez has emerged as a top target for Valencia. The champions of Copa del Rey are keen on negotiating a deal for the Uruguayan, who could be lured to the Mestalla by the prospect of Champions League football. Valencia finished the season in fourth place, despite a terrible start to the season and with second consecutive season in the competition, Gomez could be playing on a bigger stage.

Maxi Gomez contributed 13 goals and five assists in 35 La Liga appearances for Celta Vigo this season, helping them get to safety in relegation battle.
