Valencia coach Unai Emery is eyeing up top spot in group C ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Bursaspor on Wednesday.
Emery’s side are second in the standings, just three points behind leaders Manchester United, while they hold a two-point cushion over third-placed Glasgow Rangers with just two more matches remaining.
And Emery feels that the Turkish champions’ trip to the Mestalla is the perfect opportunity to put pressure on United in the race to seal first place.
“This match is important enough to demand that we leave an awful lot of ourselves on that pitch,” said Emery. “We have huge respect for Bursaspor. They have great players and we expect the toughest possible match from them.”
“But we have a clear goal – to win the group – and to achieve that we have to win tomorrow and then at Manchester United. We try to win every game, and we really want to win our group as well.”
Valencia opened their Champions League campaign with an impressive 4-0 victory at Bursaspor on matchday one and with the Turks all but playing for pride having lost each of their games in the competition, Emery will be expecting nothing less than three points.
“Every match is an opportunity to impress and tomorrow, at our stadium, especially so,” he said.
