Valencia eager to ward off interest in Carles Gil

Spanish newspaper Superdeporte understands that Valencia chiefs are doing everything they can to prevent youngster Carles Gil from leaving the club.

Despite impressing while on loan at Elche last term, the 20-year-old was unable to play himself into Miroslav Djukic’s plans during pre-season and was in turn loaned back to the newly promoted side.

Los Che, nonetheless, see the forward as a hot prospect for the future and are desperate to gain a firm foothold on the player.

Carles Gil has only recently signed a new deal at Mestalla until June 2016, with an €8 million release clause being inserted in his contract.

However, with Spain’s top sides casting admiring glances towards Gil, los Che plan to increase the release clause to €20 million.

The youngster was recently handed his debut for the Spain Under-21 side, and he is widely regarded as one of Spain’s hottest prospects at the moment.
