Spanish La Liga outfit Valencia have no intention of selling goalkeeper Diego Alves, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Brazilian has emerged as a top target for Barcelona, who are far from happy with Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s latest performances, and the Catalans watched the experienced shot-stopper in action as he saved two penalties against Atletico Madrid last weekend.
But, just as they were preparing to make their interest concrete, it has been revealed that new Valencia head coach Cesare Prandeli is determined to keep hold of the 31-year-old footballer.
The Italian tactician believes Diego Alves is a key member of the squad at Mestalla and he does not want to see him leave in the January transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether Valencia chiefs will feel the same way if they receive a big money offer from Barcelona, but, for the time being, the Brazilian is not for sale.
