Spanish giants Valencia have joined the chase to sign French midfielder Lassana Diarra from Marseille, Superdeporte can reveal.
The former Real Madrid footballer was one of Europe’s most sought-after players at the end of last season, but there has been surprisingly little interest in his services during the summer transfer window.
Galatasaray almost took advantage of the opportunity and agreed a deal with Diarra, but the move could now fall through due to concerns the player and his wife have regarding the volatile situation in Turkey.
According to Superdeporte, Valencia and AC Milan are the other clubs showing interest in the 31-year-old footballer, who has an agreement with Marseille allowing him to leave for a nominal fee this summer.
Diarra had done brilliantly to kick-start his career at Stade Velodrome and even nailed down a regular starting berth in the France national team, but eventually missed the Euro 2016 finals through injury.
