Valencia keen on David Ospina
French daily newspaper L’Equipe has learned that Valencia are seriously considering a move for Nice goalkeeper David Ospina.
Los Che plan to cash in on Vicente Guaita and want the Colombian to challenge Diego Alves for a starting berth.
Valencia officials were impressed with the player’s displays at the 2014 World Cup and they are eager to lure him to Mestalla at the earliest opportunity.
The problems is that there are three more sides keen on Ospina, including Premier League giants Arsenal, but los Che are confident of winning the race for his signature.
David Ospina, 25, has spent last six years at Nice having joined from Atletico Nacional, featuring in 189 league matches for les Aiglons.
The Colombia international is now looking for a new challenge and it is highly unlikely the club will stand in his way.
Gary Medel nears Inter switch
Inter Milan are closing in on signing Chilean midfielder Gary Medel from Cardiff City, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri have yet to reach an understanding with the Championship side, but La Tercera has suggested that the player has agreed on a contract worth €2 million per campaign.
New Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa has attempted to persuade the highly rated midfielder to join him at Stade Velodrome, but Medel eventually decided to join Inter instead.
While Cardiff City are holding out for an outright transfer worth between €9m and €10m, the Nerazzurri have offered to sign the Chile international on a season-long loan with an option to buy for €7m.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Medel’s agent Fernando Felicevich will meet with Cardiff chiefs later today to try and persuade them to accept Inter’s proposal.
After making 34 Premier League appearances for the Bluebirds, the 26-year-old started all four games for Chile at the 2014 World Cup, albeit acting as a centre-back.
Newcastle eyeing Portuguese winger
Premier League outfit Newcastle are showing interest in Rio Ave winger Andre Filipe Alves Monteiro, better known as Ukra, A Bola has revealed.
The 26-year-old is being linked with a summer exit, and La Liga newcomers Deportivo La Coruna were the first high-profile side to express their interest.
However, it appears that the Spanish side could face competition from Newcastle, who are keen as well.
The Magpies have already signed Jack Colback, Ayoze Perez, Siem de Jong, Remy Cabella, Emmanuel Riviere and Daryl Janmaat, and they want to add the Portuguese hotshot to that list.
After spending his early career at Porto, Ukra enjoyed loan spells with Varzim, Olhanense, Braga and Rio Ave before making a permanent switch to Vila do Conde.
He has made a total of 51 league appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals and producing 9 assists in the process.
