Valencia have made an enquiry into the availability of Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago, AS has revealed.
The Argentine returned to Santiago Bernabeu after spending last season on loan at Roma, but he is set to leave once again given he is not in the plans of boss Jose Mourinho.
The 26-year-old has just one year left on his deal with los Blancos, meaning he should be available at a cut-back price this summer.
According to AS, Valencia have expressed interest in signing the Argentine midfielder and los Che are willing to offer around €6 million for his services.
The Mestalla outfit turned their attention to Gago after they had a €9 million bid rejected for Villarreal midfielder Bruno Soriano.
It appears that Valencia will have no problems agreeing a transfer fee with Real, although they could find it hard to persuade the player that his future lies at Mestalla.
Gago would also have to accept a major pay cut in order to join los Che, which could prove to be an obstacle to the deal.
