Valencia star flattered by PSG link

Valencia midfielder Sofiane Feghouli has welcomed interested from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

The Algeria international is one of the most sought-after players in Europe at the moment, with Manchester United believed to be keen.

Paris Saint-Germain chief Nasser al-Khelaifi recently mentioned the 22-year-old as one of the possible targets, with the player admitting he is flattered by the Saints link.

“This kind of talk is always flattering,” Feghouli explained to L’Equipe. “However, out of respect for my club and fans, I cannot allow myself to spread it.”

Having been born in the suburb of Paris called Saint-Ouen, the player has a special bond with Paris Saint-Germain.

“Paris is my city, I have ties. I’m from Saint-Ouen, it is where I grew up, my mother still lives there.”

Sofiane Feghouli was seen as one of the biggest talents in France when he starred for Grenoble during the 2008/2009 season, but his career didn’t take the expected route.

The youngster made a switch to Valencia in the summer of 2010 despite missing most of the 2009/2010 season through injury and he largely struggled to prove his worth at Mestalla.

Nevertheless, Feghouli managed to kick-start his career and is now considered one of the key members of the squad.
