Valencia have broken off negotiations to sign Ajax full-back Gregory van der Wiel and is now exploring other targets, according to Super Deporte.
Los Che have long ago agreed a five-year deal with the Dutch international, but they were unable to reach an agreement with Ajax over the transfer fee.
The Spanish giants have now decided to pursue other targets, with Sporting Lisbon defender Joao Pereira and Marseille’s Cesar Azpilicueta moving in front of the queue.
No official negotiations have been opened for either of the two players as the club chiefs first want to find a replacement for coach Unai Emery, but the club are expected to step up their interest in the two players in no time.
Valencia could easily stay without a single right-back at the end of the season, seeing that both Bruno Saltor and Miguel Brito are expected to leave the club when their contacts expire in June.
Antonio Barragan is also believed to be considering his future, meaning that los Che need to act quickly and sign at least one right-sided defender in the summer transfer window.
