Valencia CF are on the verge of signing midfielder Andres Guardado from Deportivo La Coruna, Spanish news agency EFE has revealed.
The player, who looks set to leave Riazor when his contract expires at the end of the season, has been followed by los Che for quite a while now and it appears the agreement was finally reached.
Deportivo La Coruna coach Jose Luis Oltra confirmed the player was given permission to travel to Mestalla, presumably to sign a contract with Valencia.
“I know that he traveled to Valencia. I have given him permission,” Oltra said at a press conference.
“I know what happened, but I will not say.”
Deportivo La Coruna have already secured automatic promotion to La Liga, which is probably one of the reasons why the Mexican international was allowed to leave the squad in the middle of the week.
The 25-year-old arrived to Riazor as one of the hottest prospects in world football in 2008 for a fee of €7 million, but he never quite managed to develop into an important player for Depor.
Guardado did, however, impress in what will be his final season at the club, having scored 11 goals in 33 Segunda games this term.
