Valencia have unveiled Spaniard Unai Emery as their new coach, the Spanish cup winners announced Thursday.
“Valencia have reached agreement with Unai Emery according to which he will become the new coach of the first team from July 1 for two seasons,” the club said.
Emery was previously head coach of Almeria, whom he guided to promotion into La Liga in his first season in charge. They finished eighth in Spain's top-flight division this season.
Emery will have as his goal qualification for the Champions League, which alencia will miss out on next season after finishing tenth in the league. They will, however, play in UEFA Cup thanks to their Spanish Cup victory.
The Basque becomes Valencia's fifth coach in one year after Quique Sanchez Flores, Oscar Fernandez, Dutchman Ronald Koeman and Salvador Gonzales.
