Getafe defender Juan Valera says his side’s 1-0 La Liga victory over champions Barcelona on Saturday will do wonders for morale.
The former Atletico Madrid full-back ‘s goal proved the match decider at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, but the 27-year-old preferred to concentrate on the collective efforts of his team.
“The team has put in a fantastic shift and we deserve the victory,” Valera told AS after the game. “Sometimes football is not fair to us.”
“The truth is (Barcelona) are very good, but there is also a bit of luck (involved). These three points give us an important jump, and everything adds up towards a massive morale booster.”
Getafe provisionally climb to 13th place on the La Liga table, ahead of Sunday’s matches. Barca, on the other hand, stay second but are now six points behind league leaders and arch rivals Real Madrid.
