FC Bayern München have agreed a new 12-month contract with their 31-year-old Dutch captain Mark van Bommel while defender Martín Demichelis has extended his deal by two seasons until 2012.

Van Bommel’s contract is set to be signed in the coming days: “Finally we have come to an agreement. I will stay and I’m looking forward to another season with Bayern”, he said.

Argentinian defender Demichelis has also confirmed a new contract with Bayern. His existing deal was due to expire in the summer of 2010, but the 28-year-old has signed a new agreement which runs until 2012. “I’m happy I could sign here again and I want to achieve a lot with FC Bayern in the coming years”, he claimed.
