Van Bommel requests a move to Milan

Bayern midfielder Mark van Bommel has requested to be allowed a transfer to Milan, according to Bild.

The Bayern captain has fallen out with compatriot Louis van Gaal, who doesn’t see him as a first team regular next season and he has reportedly requested to leave the club after being informed of Milan interest.

Van Bommel’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, meaning he would be available at a cut-back price.

Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri desperately needs a central midfielder after Gattuso, Seedorf and Ambrosini all picked up injuries and he sees the Dutch international as someone who could immediately slot into the starting line-up.

According to the latest reports, Milan officials Adriano Galliani and Ariedo Breida are already in Munich trying to close the deal.
