Bayern Munich’s Belgium defender Daniel van Buyten is expected to face Juventus for Tuesday’s crucial Champions League clash, it was revealed on Saturday.
The 31-year-old took an elbow in the face while contesting a high ball in the second-half of Bayern’s 2-1 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday night which put Munich third before Saturday’s Bundesliga games.
But Bayern doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt expects the centre-back to be able to face Juventus.
“There is no fracture and I am optimistic (he will play),” said Dr Mueller-Wohlfahrt on Bayern’s website.
The former Marseilles and Hamburg defender has scored six goals so far this season in all competitions and Bayern have to win the Group A clash against Juventus in Turin to reach the knock-out stages of the Champions League.
