Despite speculative reports suggesting the contrary, Ronald de Boer has told TalkSPORT that Donny van de Beek hasn’t contacted Ajax, nor asked to leave Manchester United.
The only thing that cannot be disputed in this matter is that the midfielder hasn’t met the expectations following his arrival to Old Trafford for an initial fee of £35 million so far. He has started only two Premier League games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team and made further 11 appearances in the English top flight off the bench. He has been a regular starter only in the two domestic cup competitions.
Naturally, many reports claimed the 23-year-old was looking to leave as soon as possible, with some hinting at a possible return to Ajax, but it seems there is no truth in those stories. Solskjaer recently dismissed claims of Van de Beek being unhappy at the club, and former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt told his compatriot that he’d need to be patient to succeed in England.
And according to de Boer, that’s exactly what Van de Beek wants.
