Donny van de Beek has a place in the flans of Erik ten Hag once the Ajax boss takes over at Manchester United, according to the Mirror.
Ten Hag hasn’t yet been officially confirmed as the new manager at United, but every source reports the same – it’s a matter of days, possibly hours until it happens. And it seems he’s counting on his compatriot to help his revolution at Old Trafford.
Numerous squad changes are expected to take place at United this summer, with Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard all set to leave as free agents. Ralf Rangnick, who will take up a club director role when Ten Hag arrives, has already announced that the club are working on signing at least six players.
Van de Beek has so far failed to justify the £39 million spent on his services in 2020 and he joined Everton on loan in January. However, United have always been clear on his future belonging to them, not giving the Toffees an option to buy under any circumstances.
The 25-year-old midfielder will return to Manchester at the end of the season.
