After the arrival of players like Canales and Ozil, Rafael van der Vaart was deemed surplus to the requirements at Santiago Bernabeu and he looks set to leave the club.
The Dutchman is slowly getting used to the idea of moving clubs, but he says there is only one team he would like to play for.
“I would never play for any other Spanish club. The truth is, if I leave Madrid, there is only one club I can go to without feeling I have taken a step back. And that club is Manchester United.”
“This is a great club and if it is true they are interested in me, I will listen to their offer. If they offered me an opportunity to play, with the situation currently in Madrid, it would be very difficult to refuse.”
Van der Vaart says he wants to join a club where he can win titles.
“Ferguson is a great coach, and I never go to a club where I do not think I can win titles. I know that in Manchester the chances of winning things are pretty big, and that is the factor I have in mind at this stage of my career.”
