German media outlet Bild has learned that Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart is set to join La Liga newcomers Real Betis.
The experienced footballer will be leaving HSV when his contract comes to an end on 30th June, and it appears he has decided to move to Spanish La Liga.
According to Bild, Van der Vaart will sign a three-year deal with Real Betis by the end of the day.
The Andalucian side have long ago secured promotion to the elite division and they hope the player’s huge experience will prove an important asset next season.
Van der Vaart already has some La Liga experience, having spent two years with Real Madrid, making 58 league appearances and scoring 11 goals.
The 32-year-old opted to move to Spain as he wants to be closer to his grandparents, who live in Andalucia, and he has even promised his grandfather to end his career at Cadiz.
