Van der Wiel’s move to Valencia put on hold

The transfer of Ajax full-back Gregory van der Wiel to Valencia could fall apart as the two clubs look unable to reach an agreement.

The Dutch international has agreed a five-year deal with los Che long time ago, but he is waiting for the two clubs to reach an agreement.

The La Liga outfit offered €10 million for the player whose contract expires in June 2013, but Ajax want no less than €12 million.

The player’s agent is hoping the two clubs will soon come to an agreement as Van der Wiel only wants to join Valencia.

“Perhaps Ajax are hoping that other clubs will join the race,” the player’s agent Hakim Slimani told Voetbal International.

“But Gregory has already made his choice: he wants to join Valencia. It would be good if we have a quick clarification. Then, Gregory can fully concentrate on his last six months at Ajax.”

If the two clubs manage to reach an agreement, the 23-year-old will join Valencia on 1st July 2012.
