The Daily Star understands the Liverpool are keen on securing the services of Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
The Merseyside club are back in Europe next season and manager Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen his squad accordingly, with his defensive line high on the agenda.
Manchester City and champions elect Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Van Dijk, who has been plying his trade in England with Southampton for the past two seasons.
During that time, the Netherlands international has racked up sixty-six appearances for the south coast club in all competitions, scoring seven goals.
However, he hasn’t played since January after picking up an injury in a 3-0 win over Leicester City at St. Marys.
Claude Puel’s side could move up to eighth place with the right result against Arsenal on Wednesday evening, and a Saints victory can be backed at a price of 13/5.
