(GSM) – Bayern München manager Louis van Gaal has asked his players to boycott next month’s international friendly between Germany and Denmark.

According to the Dutchman, the game comes at a bad moment after already having to do without his star players throughout most of the new season’s preparation.

The eight Bayern players that were active for Germany at the World Cup, will join their teammates on August 2. Another seven days later they are scheduled to re-unite with Joachim Löw for the international encounter on August 11.

The same goes for Dutch players Arjen Robben, Mark van Bommel and Edson Braafheid, while Frank Ribéry and Martin Demichelis join their club’s preparation a few days earlier.

So far, the German football association (DFB) has shown little interest in changing their international calendar. The same goes for the Dutch FA (KNVB), who plan to have their national team face Ukraine on the same day.
