Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to move for Nicolas Otamendi as he looks to solve his defensive problems, according to the Express.
The 26 year old, who has previously been a target of both Chelsea and Manchester City, moved to Valencia for £9.5m in January before being loaned to Brazilian side Atletico Miniero.
He returned to the La Liga side this season, and has played every minute of his side’s four league games so far, helping them rise to second in the table after they have dropped just two points from twelve available.
Van Gaal spent big in the summer, bringing in a plethora of attacking talent but failed to strengthen his back line, which has gone on to leak twelve goals in six games across all competitions so far.
The former Netherlands coach has also been linked with moves for Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Gerard Pique of Barcelona.
