Vitesse midfielder Marco van Ginkel says he is “flattered” by rumoured interest from Premier League club Chelsea.
The 20-year-old has made 97 Eredvisie appearances since making his debut in 2010, subsequently earning a call-up to the Netherlands’ international team.
Van Ginkel’s meteoric rise through the ranks has led to suggestions that Chelsea could be about to swoop, but he insists such rumours do not affect him.
He told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad: “I am not thinking about it right now, but I am really flattered by their interest.”
Van Ginkel is currently featuring at the European Under-21 Championships in Israel, where the Netherlands have already secured a place in the semi-finals after winning their opening two fixtures.
The playmaker has scored 18 goals in the Eredivisie thus far in his fledgling career.
