Van Marwijk extends contract with Dutch

Bert van Marwijk extended his conract as coach of the Dutch national side on Wednesday till 2012, the Dutch Football Federation announced on Wednesday.

The 57-year-old – who replaced Marco van Basten after Euro 2008 – will see the Dutch through to the Euro 2012 finals, to be co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine.

Van Marwijk’s assistants Dick Voorn, Phillip Cocu and Frank de Boer also extended their contracts to July 2012.

The Dutch eased through to the World Cup finals without dropping a point and have been drawn in Group E where they will play Denmark, Japan and Cameroon in football’s global showpiece which kicks-off in South Africa on June 11 and runs till July 11.
