Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy admits he is seriously thinking about retiring from football at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old joined free-spending Malaga on a free transfer from Hamburg last summer, but he has been unable to hold on to a regular starting berth at La Rosaleda.
The Dutch forward now reveals that he is set to end his playing days at Malaga.
“One thing is for sure”, Van Nistelrooy told Sport 1, “Malaga will be the last club that I will play for.”
The veteran forward explains that he could decide to call it quits when this season comes to an end.
“Next month I will make a decision. At the moment I am 50% to quit football and 50% to continue with Malaga.
“In any case, I still have to speak to the club and I will listen carefully to what they have to say before making the final decision.”
Van Nistelrooy joined Malaga in order to help the team achieve a Champions League qualification and the Dutchman could play on for another season if los Boquerones make it to Europe’s top competitions.
La Rosaleda outfit currently occupy the fifth place in La Liga standings, but they are tied on points with fourth-placed Levante.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has mostly been restricted to substitute appearances this season, although he managed to score 2 goals in 18 league games.
