Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has added fuel to speculations that he could join Real Madrid at the end of the season.
The Dutch forward has been in scintillating form this season and he is currently on the shortlist of several major European clubs.
Real Madrid are one of the teams showing interest in the Netherlands international and the player admits he would be interested in a move to Santiago Bernabeu.
“I am happy to hear of the interest of a club as important as Real Madrid,” Van Persie was quoted as saying in Marca. “Of course I would be excited to play there.”
However, the Dutchman doesn’t think that Arsenal would agree to negotiate a sale any time soon.
“I do not think Arsenal will be willing to negotiate.”
The 28-year-old needed some time to establish himself as an important player at the Emirates, but he has been in impressive form over the last two seasons.
After scoring 18 goals in 25 Premier League games last term, Van Persie is now the leading goalscorer in England’s top flight, having bagged 22 goals in just 24 games.
