(GSM) – Netherlands striker Robin van Persie will be fit for their World Cup semi-final clash with Uruguay in Cape Town on Tuesday, according to the Dutch FA.

There had been fears over Van Persie’s fitness after he injured his elbow during the match. But hospital tests revealed his injury would not rule him out of the tournament and this news will be a massive boost for coach Bert van Marwijk.

“Neither scan on Van Persie or Mathijsen showed any serious damage and both are fit to play against Uruguay,” a statement from the Dutch FA said.
