Market: Vancouver Whitecaps win

Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport

Smelling a chance to extend on what has become a real MLS purple patch, Vancouver will welcome Austin to BC Place in the early hours of Sunday.

Starting with the hosts, while Vancouver might have opened the 2021 campaign in the midst of a real struggle, the Whitecaps have bounced back in some style. Opening the weekend’s fixtures sat just a single point adrift of breaking into the Western Conference Final Series spots, they have really found their feet under interim boss Vanni Sartini. Gaining a string of plaudits and skyrocketing their way up the table, the Caps were last seen laying down another marker. Putting on what was a rampant display on home soil, the Canadian outfit stormed their way to a 4-1 romp at BC Place. Smelling what is a golden chance in front of their own supporters and winning each of their last three MLS contests on the spin, they should also be boosted by their most recent meeting against Sunday’s guests. When Vancouver made the trip to Austin last month, they picked up a 2-1 victory.

As for the visitors, while Austin might have managed to pick up a much-needed boost against Portland last month, Josh Wolff’s side came crashing immediately back down to earth. With just their goal difference keeping them off the foot of the table in what has been their maiden MLS campaign, the Texas-based outfit were last seen getting hit with an action-packed 5-2 defeat against Dallas. In fact, along with losing four of their last five matchups, it should also be noted that Austin have collected just six points from any of their last nine contests, a run that stems back to July 2nd. Hit with that 2-1 defeat when they hosted Vancouver last month, we’re backing a similar home victory this weekend at attractive odds.
