Competition: MLS
Market: Vancouver Whitecaps win
Odds: 7/2 @ Bet 365
Looking to briefly leapfrog Los Angeles FC into third spot, The Whitecaps will look to carry on their recent form in the final third when they travel to the Talen Energy Stadium on Saturday night.
For Jim Curtin’s Philadelphia side, although the U’s may have scured their spot in the fourth-round of the US Open Cup a fortnight ago, the hosts on Saturday night have now recorded just one win in their last three MLS appearances and they look once again be on course for a bottom half finish. Given the fact that midfielder Borek Dockal is the U’s top scorer with just three goals this season, it is no surprise to see that Philadelphia have been drastically struggling in the final third. Scoring 16 times in their 15 MLS outings this year, only Seattle Sounders hold a worst attacking record in either the Western or the Eastern Conference.
As for The Whitecaps, coming off the back of thumping Orlando City 5-2 in their last outing, while Vancouver have shipped goals over the past month, they have won two of their last three against The Union and have found a fine run of form in the final third. Now unbeaten since the middle of May, Vancouver will be looking for former MLS top scorer Kei Kamara to carry on his recent form. Now with six goals for the season, Kamara also score a brace against Orlando last week.
