As reported by Sky Sports, Real Madrid‘s Raphael Varane has told Spanish radio station El Larguero that the contact with Manchester United has been made.
Varane made his debut for the 12-time European champions under the current Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, and the interest of the Portuguese manager in bringing the French international to Old Trafford has been reported before.
With Daley Blind reportedly on the way out, and considering all the injuries Phil Jones aand Marcos Rojo have suffered, Mourinho won’t be too satisfied with having to rely exclusively on the partnership of Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling. Varane is certain to add significant quality as well as to improve the overall depth of the squad.
The centre-back was asked whether he received a call from Mourinho in reference to a potential move to United, and he replied that there was no such direct call, but that contact has been made.
