Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is set to be rewarded with a new and improved contract, El Mundo Deportivo can reveal.
Earning mere €1.2 million per campaign, the Frenchman is one of the lowest-paid members of the first team squad and his current deal runs until June 2017.
But, even though the youngster was recently linked with a Santiago Bernabeu exit, the latest reports suggest he will instead sign a new contract until June 2020.
Varane may be behind Sergio Ramos and Pepe in the pecking order at the moment, but everybody at the club believes he will become a key player for los Blancos in years to come and they hope the new deal will help ward off interest in his services.
Having suffered a disappointing defeat to arch rivals Atletico Madrid last weekend, Real Madrid are available at 2/7 to defeat Deportivo on the road and revive their title bid.
