Vasco da Gama have moved to confirm the imminent signing of Dutch full-back Urby Emanuelson.
The former Netherlands international has been a free agent since his deal with Atalanta expired earlier this summer and he appears to have decided to move to Brazil.
Speaking to the press after the 6-0 loss to Internacional, Vasco da Gama coach Jorginho went to announce that they would be signing Urby Emanuelson.
“I hope to count on him as early as next week,” the coach told reporters. “We have seen several videos of Emanuelson, he has quality and speed. He can give us a big hand in this difficult time.”
Urby Emanuelson has endured a real nightmare since leaving Ajax to move to Italian Serie A, having struggled for playing time at AC Milan, AS Roma, Fulham and Atalanta.
The general impression is that the utility player was never given the credit he deserved, and the 29-year-old is now forced to leave Europe altogether and move to Brazil.
And with Emanuelson still determined to prove the doubters wrong, this could prove to be a great signing by struggling Vasco da Gama.
