Vazquez wants new Real contract

Lucas Vazquez is keen on signing a new contract with Real Madrid, according to AS.

The 29-year-old was named among the players likely to leave Los Blancos ahead of several transfer windows before, this one included. A winger by default, he has lately been converted to a right-back and has been serving as a backup option for Dani Carvajal. Prior to the sale of Achraf Hakimi to Inter Milan, it was expected Vazquez would indeed be among the players for sale this summer, but his presence in the squad would, under current circumstances, be valuable to head coach Zinedine Zidane. Vazquez is apparently prepared to accept the defensive role, which could help his cause, despite the club having Alvaro Odriozola set to return from his loan at Bayern Munich at the end of August.

Vazquez’s current contract has less than 12 month left to run, but it seems he has no intention of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu any time soon.
