(GSM) – Vélez won Copa Libertadores Group 7 in style on Thursday as their 4-0 win over Deportivo Italia helped them finish ahead of Cruzeiro.

Despite controlling the proceedings, the Argentinians did not take the lead until the 42nd minute when Víctor Zapata found the back of the net past Alan Liebeskind.

Three minutes into the second half, it was 2-0 when Rodrigo López converted from the spot, and Emiliano Papa bagged the third for Vélez in the 73rd minute.

López’s second goal with seven minutes to play secured the victory over the hapless Venezuelans, and it ensured Vélez finish on 13 points, two ahead of cruzeiro.
