Former Barcelona coach Terry Venables would not be surprised if Pep Guardiola takes a one-year sabbatical after this season.
The 41-year-old coach’s contract with BarcA is expiring, and he has yet to make a decision about his future.
Clubs such as Chelsea and Inter are believed to be closely monitoring Guardiola’s situation, but Venables can see the Barca boss taking a year off instead.
“It is a very difficult situation that he finds himself in. What should you do after you have won it all? It would not surprise me if he decides to take a one-year sabbatical,” Venables said to COMRadio.
“I do not want to go into what he should do in the future. He has a difficult decision to make. Guardiola is the best for all he’s done for Barcelona, there’s no better coach.”
Venables won one La Liga title during his years at Barcelona, and also lifted the Copa de la Liga once.
