Vertonghen out until December

Tottenham Hotspur have today confirmed that defender Jan Vertonghen has been ruled out until December courtesy of an injury. The 31 year old, who pretty much already made the revelation himself which caused tension between him and the club, has been a rock at the heart of the Spurs defence ever since arriving from Ajax back in 2012.

This news will serve as a big blow in more ways than one, though, given that Tottenham aren’t known for having great strength in depth. It seems as if Mauricio Pochettino is being punished by the football gods for his inability to sign more stars in the summer transfer window, and on top of that, some fans are still uncertain as to whether or not Vertonghen will even be able to resolve his contract situation before it’s too late.

Fans will be hoping that Vertonghen is able to return prior to the busy Christmas period.
