Vertonghen to Inter Milan still on?

According to a recent report from Evening Standard, there’s a decent chance that Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen could follow in the footsteps of former teammate Christian Eriksen by making the jump over to Inter Milan. The Belgian centre-back hasn’t really been at the races for most of the season so far and while he’s had a few decent appearances here and there, it certainly seems as if the pace and physicality of the Premier League is starting to take its toll on him.

If the 32-year-old doesn’t agree to a new contract by the time the season ends, there’s a decent chance that he could wind up leaving on a free. While that’s the last thing Spurs want it would allow them to go out into the transfer market and find a replacement, although the big worry for many is that Toby Alderweireld is also going to contemplate leaving North London this summer.
