Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has admitted he is tempted by the prospect of moving to English Premier League.
The experienced shot-stopper is set to quit Camp Nou when his contract expires in the summer, but he has yet to agree a deal with a club.
French giants Monaco are reportedly in pole position, but Valdes has hinted that he may move to English Premier League instead.
“I’ve always identified with your football, the way the supporters live the game and the respect they show they players,” Valdes said to Daily Mail.
“It is one of the biggest leagues in the world, with the best clubs in the world and, without doubt, it’s a very good option for me.”
Victor Valdes came through the famous La Masia youth academy before establishing himself as a first team regular at Barcelona.
He went on to make almost 400 league appearances for the club, winning the La Liga trophy on six occasions.
Having also won three Champions League titles, Valdes has decided to look for a new challenge and it appears it will be perfect timing given club’s struggles this season.
Following weekend’s shock defeat to Real Valladolid, Barcelona are priced at 4/1 to defend the La Liga trophy.
