This doesn’t happen too often but, apparently, some referees will also fake injuries and incidents from time to time.
It is exactly what happened to former Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano who was on the receiving end of one of the weirdest red cards you will have seen in a while.
During Vasco da Gama’s 2-2 draw with Flamengo on Sunday evening, Fabiano got close up to the referee in protest but the match official took this opportunity to fake a headbutt and show the Brazilian forward his marching orders.
Luis Fabiano did make the mistake in the first place, but were the theatrics really necessary.
