Serbian champions Crvena Zvezda – or Red Star for the English speaking world – are back among the elite clubs after more than 25 years.
Crvena Zvezda are former European and world champions from 1991 but despite their storied past the club has never played the Champions League ever since the current competition format had been introduced.
Cue the joy when Crvena Zvezda secured their place in Europe’s elite competition this year and the excitement of being dropped in the same group as Liverpool, PSG and Napoli.
Red and Whites put in a brave performance in their first-ever Champions League match on Tuesday night and did enough to smother Napoli and hold them to a goalless draw in front of the packed stadium.
Before the actual game, Crvena Zvezda fans made sure to prepare a spectacle for their players.
