An Ethiopian referee had a game to forget this week in the Military team Defence’s clash against Welwalo Adigrat University.
He first blew his whistle on a rather soft penalty before rewarding Defence with a dubious goal after ruling that ball crossed the line at 1-1.
Welwalo Adigrat players were having none of it anymore and went on to chase him down after which one of the team’s coaches punched him to the ground.
The coach has subsequently been fired whereas the Ethiopian Football Federation suspended all games in the league until further notice.
