It’s not easy to understand the most recent stunt that occurred between the Romanian press and head coach Christoph Daum.
Daum’s feud with Romanian members of the media started a couple of months ago when he claimed he was ‘more Romanian’ than the entire Romanian press in a rant against the undermines of his position at the helm.
Romania boss subsequently labelled one of country’s biggest sports papers – Gazeta Sporturilor – as being only good for ‘wrapping fish’.
Hence the stunt.
A Gazeta journalist wielded a fishing rod at Daum’s press conference and presented the Romania manager with it in a scene like we’ve never seen before.
Daum did not waste a chance to reply. Angrily as well.
“Are you starting a comedy or do you want to speak about football. When do you start to become a sports journalist or do you want to go somewhere else? This has nothing do to with football, you only want to create funny stories.”, he said.
