Video: Man Runs on the Pitch, Tries to Tackle Ref, Fails, Everybody Laughs

A weird incident happened on Tuesday as Oldham Athletic locked horns with Rochdale AFC.

Referee Peter Bankes signaled a penalty for Rochdale at one point, after a trip in the box which sparked a reaction from an Oldham fan who immediately ran onto the pitch in an attempt to tackle the referee.

Bankes elegantly sidestepped the man who was instantly taken down by Oldham defender Anthony Gerrard – the cousin of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

The end result saw the entire stadium burst into laughter.
