Abdelhak Nouri united the football world.

Known as Appie, the Ajax man collapsed on the pitch during a preseason friendly against Werder Bremen in Austria last week. Ajax subsequently confirmed the 20-year-old has been left with permanent brain damage after suffering cardiac arrhythmia which came as a devastating news to his family, supporters and overall football-loving community.

In order to show their support and solidarity, thousands of Ajax fans gathered in front of his parents’ house to chant Appie’s name and put up a wonderfully emotional choreography.

Appie’s brother Mohammed appeared at the window to thank the fans.
