Marseille have recently invited a young fan of theirs for a ceremonial kick-off against Rennes in French Ligue 1.
The lad named Yassin was supposed to start the play and leave the stadium but he decided to steal the show as he ran the full length towards the Rennes goal, scored a goal and celebrated like a true professional.
The video you’re about to see went viral as fans across the globe were left bemused at his actions.
However, in a tweet posted on the official Marseille account everything’s been explained. Young Yassin’s goal was a tribute to his father, who happened to be one of the two men killed in a bus accident which left another 15 Marseille supporters injured ten years ago.
Lahcen and Imad passed away in 2008 in a terrible accident. 10 years later, Yassin honoured his father in front of his big OM family.
You’re bravery inspires and empowers us all, young man!
