Manchester United manager David Moyes expects captain Nemanja Vidic to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.
The world-class defender has less than a year left on his current deal, with a number of top European clubs closely monitoring the situation.
David Moyes is, nevertheless, confident that the Serbian centre-back will pledge his long-term future to the club in the near future.
“I didn’t know about Vida’s contract. I have not looked into it yet,” Moyes was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “I am sure the chief executive and the club will be doing that.
“He’s not old. He is a really top centre half. The best I have worked with, that’s for sure.”
The 31-year-old has proved to be one of club’s best signings during the last decade, having achieved iconic status shortly after arriving to Old Trafford from Spartak Moscow.
After battling a back problem over the last couple of years, Vidic has started all five Premier League games this season to the delight of David Moyes.
The Serb is expected to make his sixth consecutive start when Manchester United host West Bromwich on Saturday afternoon, with Red Devils 7/25 favourites for the win.
