Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic admits it can be frustrating to play Barcelona as they enjoy the majority of possession.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side came face to face with the Catalans in the 2011 Champions League final but were beaten 3-1. United were also beaten by them 2-0 in the 2009 finale.
Although Vidic acknowledged that it is difficult to play against Barca, he praised them for their technical ability and their consistency.
“I think that the biggest thing that makes it difficult to play against them is because they play without a striker. When they play without a striker, they are moving the ball all over the pitch, they have the possession, and that makes teams frustrated,” Vidic told FIFA.com.
“And, obviously, they are technically very good and their knowledge of the game is really good and they know what they are doing.”
“They’ve been doing it for years and years. Even when you know what is going to happen, they make it happen. You have to say they are a great team.”
Barcelona sit second in the table and are trailing leaders Real Madrid by eight points after Pep Guardiola’s men beat Sevilla 2-0 while Real could only draw 1-1 at home against Malaga.
